Hello.

I haven't used my laptop for two weeks. When i tried to turn it on nothing happened. When i connect the charger the charging led indicator doesn't illuminate. I tried to remove the battery as i was hoping the laptop would work without the battery and being connected to the charger. It wasn't working. Also i tested the charger and it's working. Could it be the battery? There is one interesting thing. When i press the power button it flashes three times but nothing else happens.

It's HP Pavillion 15-159na.

Thanks for your advice.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You might want to disconnect from the wall, disassemble the laptop, disconnect the battery and press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Try and power up the laptop without the battery but with the power brick.

So i tried to follow your advice, but nothing really happened. The laptop remained switched off during and after the procedure. I noticed one interesting thing. When i left the laptop disconnected from the charger for one hour or more, the led light next to the power button didn't blink at all. I plugged the charger in and after one hour the indicator blinked three times when i pressed the power button. Now it's dead even after long charging. Any other ideas of what to do?

Thank you.

Try this:
  1. with the battery installed, plug in the AC adapter
  2. hold down the power button; the laptop may switch on, and then switch off
  3. continue to hold down the button for at least 15 seconds
  4. release the power button
  5. try to power up the laptop
I have a Pavilion also--older than yours--but have had similar issues (after the nightmare of prying it open to replace the internal battery!)

Holding down the power button (as described above) does a "hard reset" of some of the battery status data the motherboard-circuitry/supervisory-processor keeps track of.
