HP Proliant ml310e gen8 Non-system disk or disk error

I am getting the "non-system disk or disk error" when booting the server. I have an HP ml310e gen8 server and I am trying to boot windows 7 from an SSD, which is connected to a smart array controller. I cannot seem to get pass this error message. Any suggestions?

Did you pass the ssd thru as a single disk int he controller? Keep in mind some of the Hp smart array controller will need to be fooled into passing a single disk by turning it into a single disk raid0 array. you will need to format and reinstall windows to it though.
