I have bought a new LCD HP zr24w. and now it seem it has a problem that the brightness is not equal on the whole monitor. its more bright in the upper left corner and a little less bright on the whole upper part. but its the darkest in the right bottom corner.

so what could it be ? should i send it back for warranty?

If it's extreme enough, I would return it -- it's possible that a lighting component has failed.

well its not that extreme but its noticesable. i was just asking that im not imagining myself that this kind of thing is posible, that it happened before :) i was really looking forward of buying an IPS monitor and now i got a broken one as it looks like...

can i fix it somehow ? can they fix it in service? is there anyway i could check the brightness with any software, test or something?

Doesn't happen often, at least as far as I've known.

I would try and use the warranty. or do an exchange where you bought it.

As a Graphic designer, that would be unacceptable... and think of it this way. how long will you put up with it?

All LCD monitors exhibit some level of uneven backlighting. Some more than others.

How serious is it?

Post pictures of the monitor in dark room with a black background and no icons showing. You basically need a black picture to fill the screen. Take a picture of it at your current settings and with the brightness and contrast set to 50.

Post both pictures.

i have send it back for warranty and now I've got it back and the problem is the same! they didnt fix it ... so MAD !

this is the black

and this is the obvious difference between poker table on top left corner and bottom right corner

Those are some pretty large patches of uneven backlighting. I would say it is worse than average.

I would call HP customer support and complain and offer to e-mail those pictures as well. I would also read through the warranty to find out if there's anything that specifically applies to the backlight.
