HS244HQ vs s23a950d

What is better HS244HQ or s23a950d for 3d gaming using 7970 OC. Or maybe V3D231 or D2342P good enough?

The HS244HQ is 3D Vision certified, but can do HD3D through HDMI (I have the 27" version of this monitor). However, with the HDMI limitation, you will be limited to either 720p @ 60hz per eye, or 1080p @ 30hz.

If you want to stick with your AMD setup, you'll want the s23a950d from Samsung, which offers 3D through displayport and does not have the same limitations.

You may also want to be sure you want to go AMD or Nvidia before you make a choice. Which ever choice you make will influence which card brand you'll be purchasing for the life of the monitor. The Samsung monitor is geared for AMD, the Acer is geared towards Nvidia.

One more note; Nvidia has added a new standard for 3D, 3D Vision 2. It might be worth looking for a 3D Vision 2 monitor, rather than going with the older tech. That said, I do like my Acer. While it doesn't have lightboost, the monitor does have a lot more brightness than most, to help out 3D.

I personally own an S23a750d and love it. When researching my purchase, I couldn't find much of any difference between it and the s23a950d aside from the stand design and the price. I was able to snag mine for 350$ (and it went on sale pretty frequently all through last fall and early this year). It comes with a tridef 3d license as well.

I would definitely make sure to get a monitor with display port, so you can take advantage of the full resolution and framerate, and the s23a#50d (whichever one) has that. Make sure you order a proper cable for your monitor as well, most have display port - display port cables, but my 7870 only accepts mini display port, so i had to wait an extra (painful) week for that (nobody in my area carries the cables, their not very common yet).

edit: After a ton of looking on cables and adapters, I just bought a cable that was display-port-male on one end and mini-display-port-male on the other.

Unfortunately, s23a750d is very rare now, or even more expensive than 950 :-(
