What physical buttons? The only physical buttons HTC puts on their smartphones are power and volume. The "buttons" below the screen are just an extension of the touchscreen that permanently maintains a few functions that are almost always useful without having to take up actual screen space (e.g. "home"). As ntgam1ng already said, I'd rather they use the screen for actual content than wasting space with "buttons."
