Just got ourselves a very nice 55 inch LCD TV and debating whether or not to cancel our cable tv which cost $69/month and replace those cost with an HTPC.
Right now I'm sorta debating whether or not to build one myself or maybe just buy the Mac Mini (lacking bluray drive is a bummer). I was also wondering whether there are any good ready-built HTPC to buy out there (ASRock, etc)
Approximate Purchase Date: January-April
Budget Range: somewhere in between $500-$1000
System Usage from Most to Least Important: output movies to HDTV, converting DVD/Bluray to HD Video, web surfing plus other normal HTPC usage
Parts Not Required: monitor, speakers
