I've been running my i5 3570k at stock but I'm keeping at eye on temps and stuff, will probably overclock some day.

I wa running prime95 for a few minutes and my temps hit 55c, ended prime and teps droped almost immediatly to about 32c.

Is that normal? I'm only on air cooling using an artic cooler 13. It was the cheapest I could find with decent reviews. I can't believe it can disapate that much heat so quickly, can it? Or am I missing something?

Be concerned if they ramp up fast, when I hit mine it takes 1min+ to go up 10c and creeps from there, but only a few sec to drop back, if it zooms to your max temp in ten secs you've got a problem

Hmm, my i5 2500k OCed to 3.9ghz w/ stock air cooling has the problem of zipping up to 70-80c in about 10 seconds. System has been stable under normal gaming and big-data use, but after OCing it and testing with prime95 I saw the temps skyrocket and noped right out of the test after a few minutes. What potential problems result in danger-zone temps under max-load?
