I 2nd that! you do the crime then

... they need just a precedent... and i hope, they don't win... because they will have an excuse suspect you... and if the torrent goes thru proxy?

Here we go again....

I'll spoil the ending for these producers: you won't get anything but bad press out of this. You may win a battle few and far between but will lose the war in a big way.

PS - I pirated Hurt Locker, but didn't torrent it. Nee-ner-nee-ner can't catch me!

I loved the movie, even if it was a bit slow. I didn't care for Avatar though, and I want my money back.

The movie did absolutely horrible in the box office, but did wonderfully on torrent sites. Do you really want to go after your true fanbase?
Torrent sites often show you the truly good movies, just see what's seeded most. I would have never watched the wicked movie 'Ink' without that information.

I'm right here. Come and get me.

[citation][nom]henrystrawn[/nom]Downloaded movies are inferior to DVDs. I download movies to preview them. I still purchase the movies that I like on DVD, to see them at their true quality. I don't go to theaters to have my twenty dollar experience ruined by inconsiderate people, endless advertisements or over-hyped trailers. I have purchased 4 DVDs in the past month, so this is not just a rational. I was just sick and tired of leaving a theater, feeling that I was cheated.[/citation]
I bought Pulse and Space Balls (one of my favourites) on Bluray, but the bluray drive in my fathers laptop decided to fail, and we lost the information we needed to get it replaced. 🙁

Look, no one is forcing you to watch some movie. If you don't think it's worth paying for then don't watch it, don't download it and you won't be in trouble. If the movie industry finds a way to pursue pirates without using DRM then I'm all for it.

I said I'm right here.
I'm waiting.
Do I hear someone outside? Nope, just another crack head.

Hmm, maybe a Sony rep would take one step in my neighbourhood and just leave. If lucky, with his car and wallet in this possession. I love my neighbourhood.
:)

another award winning something that I've never heard of!
Sometimes I find myself thinking if those lawsuits aren't just a way to get advertisement out to people who don't usually get exposed to it....

[citation][nom]r3t4rd[/nom]mIRC. Been around since early 90's. Only elites and techies knows what I mean. Nuff said.[/citation]

IRC networks are used fairly often these days too u know.
Many botnets use irc for command and contol, and gaming companies use it for their text chat features like on battle.net

Except you can download entire Blu-rays which obviously spank DVDs silly in the quality department.

[citation][nom]phillipmeyers99[/nom]Wow, crappy over rated movie, guess it has to make money some how.[/citation]
Everyone is a critic.
Dont forget Blues Brothers tanked at the box office and was slated by reviewers.
Go figure, I think it is a fantastic film.

hurt locker was an awesome movie. avatar was fun and I loved it, but the story was completely contrived. don't even see why there are commenters comparing the two. they're not even in the same category of film. avatar was not best picture material, I'm surprised it was even nominated. It deserved all the awards for effects though. Hurt Locker was amazing, seems like people who didn't like it expected a war/action movie. It is not an action movie, it's a thought provoking indie movie about the thoughts and feelings of soldiers in very tense situations. if that kind of movie isn't your bag, fine, but don't say it sucked because you don't like that type of film, you just think it sucked as an action movie. which is a pretty lame criticism since it isn't an action movie.

anyways, my heart goes out to all the downloaders who might get nabbed for this one. seems to me, they should only be responsible for actual losses to the company. imho, that equates to how many of those downloaders would of actually rented the movie. maybe 10%. so all the downloaders owe 10% of the rental fee. ofcourse voltage pictures will argue that every single download = a lost sale. I never understand how that argument can fly in court.

Could be an interesting case. I hope the thousands of people named in the suit all show up for court at the same time. (not sure if that's the way it works)but it would make the courts think twice about this non-sense.

BTW... didn't work for the record industry. Won't work for the movie industry either.

The only reason the movie producers are doing this is because the movie won an Oscar and they want to milk the movie for everything it can. If it was not for the idiocy of the motion pictures association and the half ass movie that the hurt locker was, would you see this movie forgotten after 4 weeks in theaters. Its all about the $ people.

[citation][nom]shaun_shaun[/nom]That movie .......!!! Hurt Locker was the lowest-grossing film to win Best Picture.. lots of people just skipped that movie..and war veterans hated that movie because of the inaccuracy of that movie..thats true because EODs r not some kind of special forces or they dont have any Specialized sniper skills..I really LOLed so hard when I saw its desert shooting scene.one EOD shot a running terrorist straight to his head when there was high wind and low visibility conditions. That shot is really hard to take even if u r a highly trained sniper..that movie was full of fake and gay B.S !!![/citation]
So a good film has to have box office success and/or be totally believable.
Right, gotcha, OK
Like Braveheart, very historically accurate... not

For a start you don't get to tell anyone what is or isn't a good or bad film, you have opinions, and opinions - everyone has got one.

So let me get this straight. Thismovie beat Avatar in every category, made almost 3x the money they put into it, and didn't even give credit where credit is due. Now they want to add a few more gold coins to their mountain-high treasure chest for people who didn't pay $5 to rent it at blockbuster...right.

Sweet. You can take whatever you want if the creators made a profit!

At least a communist would advocate legislation that mandated this. You? You just steal because you deserve it.

I'm not for pirating movies or anything, but it is just ridiculous to get sued thousands of dollars over a $5 movie rental with just a few clicks of a mouse. Instead of spending money to sue individual down-loaders, they should put that money towards creating a solution that prevents it being downloaded in the first place.
