So i bought this Kingston HyperX Savage Memory Red - 8GB Kit* (2x4GB) - DDR3 1600MHz Intel XMP CL9 DIMM
HX316C9SRK2/8

Here is the spec sheet for these sticks
http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX316C9SRK2_8.pdf

Motherboard is Asus P5Q3

Edit: More specific info from Speccy - ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5Q3 (LGA 775)

To me it seems it should work just fine but nope. Fans work and so but black screen appears.

That was also a G41 chipset mobo that uses a ICH7 chipset for the memory controller, the P5Q3 is a completely different animal, it a newer more advanced chipset that was designed with 4 GB sticks in mind and strenghted with the ICH10 chipset for the memory controller.

You have to look at the individual mobos, there are numerous chipsets - some will only run 2GB sticks others, only up to 1GB sticks and they went through a number of MC chipsets also, you can't generalize that all 775 mobos are the same, just like you can't generali8ze all DDR3 is the same.
