I was thinking today, could it be possible to use flashdrives as storage options by using a USB 2.0 or 3.0 motherboard header adapter to female usb.

I know adapters like this are avaliable

could you use this with say a 3.0 128 Gb flashdrive as a storage option?

Obviously this is extremely janky and I would not recomend if it actually is possible but I just want to know out of pure curiousity.

You certainly could, I'd imagine (don't have the numbers, but I'd bet they're out there somewhere) a USB drive wouldn't have the life expectancy or the data transfer rates compared to an SSD (although it would be faster than an HDD). If you kept the USB drive inside your computer it should be totally fine, if it was outside you run the risk of someone walking by and yanking it out, depending on what you have saved on there/running on the computer it could be a bit annoying.
