Hey there,

So I added SSD. And now my PC won't even turn on. Bios logo doesn't even show up. I checked my main SSD on another PC and it works fine.

So , I guess my motherboard died? I don't understand, I haven't even touched it :/

Any help is appreciated.

More detail needed.

Make and model of the SSD?

Attached to what port on the motherboard?

Motherboard make and model?

Is this "added SSD" supposedly empty?

Do you think this SSD has some Windows files on it?

What do you intend to do with it if everything was working well? A boot drive? Or?

Make it smaller.
Unplug all disk.
Any diff?

Do the fans spin when you power up?

Hey there, thank you for such fast replies.

  1. This SSD is supposed to be empty. I just plugged it in SATA where another HDD was plugged in.
  2. Yes, fans are spinning: Cpu water cooling and other intake fans. But after like 10-15 seconds a weird sound is coming out of Motherboard. I don't know how to describe... like a zoooooooooom sound :|
  3. SSD is Samsung 870, I have another one where the Windows is located.
  4. I doubt it having any files on it. I bought it second hand from Amazon, but still, not sure how that would affect Motherboard logo not appearing.
  5. I'll try unplugging all Drives makes no difference

you say "where another HDD was plugged in".

What HDD was that?

If it had some Windows files on it and you unplugged it, that may be why you cannot boot now.

Plug it back into that same port.

Plug the SSD into some other SATA port.

Can you then boot?

it didn't have windows files on it. I just had it for games. I have like 4 drives. 1 ssd for windows, and other three hdd's for just storing files - videos, games, movies, music etc. I added all of them with no problem up until now. I wish there was a way of knowing certainly if your motherboard is dead or not

It's quite unlikely your motherboard happened to die at the moment you connected an SSD.

It's up to you to know what is on that disconnected hard drive.

No one here knows the history of your Windows installation on the SSD. We have not been told.

No one knows anything about your motherboard.

Your "new" SSD was bought used off Amazon. No one knows its history.

Okay, I was born in 1993, it was a very cold November. Snow was reaching to the knees :d
