I am doing a brand new build of a primarily gaming PC. I plan on getting windows 8.1 for my OS. I am having trouble understanding what the difference between the system builder and other disks are for. Your wisdom is greatly appreciated for doing a proper install of my OS

Solution
the OEM license is cheaper, but the downsize is that is literally infused to your system. (non transferable). For example you decide to make some major upgrades to your pc in the future (motherboard completely different). it won't accept it. You would have to get the exact same components in order for the system to assume its not a new build. :)

Hope this helps.

Depending which ships faster I will either order my OS from newegg or amazon(depending on shipping time to Japan. Both sites are showing a OEM system builder and a "full version." What ever that means. OEM or no OEM??

You are right. I just check the MS site. Thanks for pointing that out

Can I transfer the software to another computer or user? You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you. You may also transfer the software (together with the license) to a computer owned by someone else if a) you are the first licensed user of the software and b) the new user agrees to the terms of this agreement. To make that transfer, you must transfer the original media, the certificate of authenticity, the product key and the proof of purchase directly to that other person, without retaining any copies of the software. You may use the backup copy we allow you to make or the media that the software came on to transfer the software. Anytime you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer. You may not transfer the software to share licenses between computers. You may transfer Get Genuine Windows software, Pro Pack or Media Center Pack software only together with the licensed computer.

the full version is also OEM, it costs more because it has 64 and 32bit disks instead of just one or the other. there's no need for shipping you can download it if you wish

thats with booting up a brand new PC with no previous OS correct? This is my first personal build and I honestly don't know what happens when you first turn the PC on.
