I am having problem with my graphic card. I have a i5 7400 processor and geforce 1050 ti graphic card running on windows 10. Yesterday my pc froze suddenly and it was stuck forever so I restarted it by cutting power and since then it is only showing me two resolution options in display settings as below:

1) 1024 x 768
2) 800 x 600

I tried reinstalling drivers multiple times, I even reset the PC with full wipe, but still it is showing only those two resolutions.

If the problem reappears after you put the GPU back in, right-click on your monitor under "Monitors" in Device Manager and select "Uninstall device" then reboot.

Yes it could be monitor or card in which case you could try using different ports on them. But first try a different cable as it has pins/wires for DDC to read EDID.

Note that under Display Settings-->Advanced Display Settings-->Display adapter properties there is a "List All Modes" button that allows you to select resolutions that the GPU is capable of even if the monitor reports those are incompatible

Not sure i see flickering but in case im not seeing it is Hz set correctly?

Basic Microsoft display drivers will run 1080p without issue, so drivers aren't practically necessary when resolution is concerned.

Try put gpu back, might get lucky. If not then it looks like 1050ti isn't functioning properly and was the cause of your initial system failure. Nothing is working and remind yourself it shouldn't ever be this hard.

It is set at 60hz

Ok, I didnt knew that. If basic microsoft display support 1080 then it really seems like a gpu or monitor issue (more gpu because monitor is running 1080p on IGPU)

Ok brother, I will try uninstalling monitor and rebooting.

I will also try new cable.

Finally, If after rebooting after uninstalling monitor this problem persist then I will try selecting the correct resolution from "Display adapter properties" -> "List all modes"

Easy enough to understand. Just select resolution and Hz and apply.

Thanks brother, But I am facing new unique issue now. While Using IGPU some part of notificaitons getting trimmed. pelase refer to images below

Can you help with this?

I Wish I could 😀 also rtx 3050 won't pair with my old processor.

Nonsense lol maybe if it were a 3080ti but not a 3050. Besides, it's frame rates that can drive a cpu mad and your processor, 7400, is more than capable of dealing with what a 3050 has to offer.

Trimming issue probably because of desktop size and scaling. See what options you have. Try 125% then back to 100%.

I have i5 7400 processor, I doubt if it can run higher GPU. If it can then indeed i can go for a new GPU.

I tried the scaling options, where i keep it on 125 or 100 getting same issue.

Yeah i dunno, maybe someone else has other ideas on that one. Might as well put your gpu back and see if you can get it working with CRU.

Your system is modern enough to run 3xxx series. 50 class cards, though a pretty big upgrade by 1050ti standards, is still far cry from being gimped by your processor, without a doubt. Cpu = fps, gpu = eye candy, resolution / details etc. If anything, 1050ti was letting down your cpu.

Hi guys,

Thanks a lot to everyone for all your replies. CRU fixed the issue with resolution. I just hope it do not create problem with games. I hope the GPU will work like before. All of you helped me a lot. Thanks a lot guys.

if it's listed as a standard Microsoft display and not 1050ti it will most likely not pay game and if it does with out the correct drivers being install it can't use any of the graphics card3d capabilities.

Sorry brother my bad, this is the screenshot you asked for.

I tried reinstalling drivers from directly from Nvidia, also tried not installing GE at all then with GE and all other combinations. Tried clean install and also express install. I haven't tried a different display cable. I don't have another display cable right now. But I will check with new display cable update here.

I have not tried the IGPU but I think IGPU will work fine, but its not enough for my needs. Thats why I am trying to fix it.

One more thing to notice here, strangely there is no bios and firmware update available for my motherboard on Asus website. Although I was able to find 1 update on another website but there is no update available on Asus.
The Nvidia Control Panel, which is installed along with the multitude of drivers it installs, has the capability of reading all the installed and related drivers, and make available the necessary resolution combinations, and can even create the resolution combinations you want.

Every new motherboard comes with a CD/DVD disk which contains drivers for every component in the motherboard... and I found Asus downloads for Bios, Firmware, Drivers and Tools though the latest updates are from 2019, but they should be better than what you have installed... besides the Nvidia drivers that is.

Are these the right BIOS and firmware updates for your motherboard?
