I can see the file but it will not transfer data

I have two windows 7 computers networked together, I can get the can see and open the file I want, but when I update one computer the other won't show the change. This is my first attempted at networking and now I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

If you are trying to open, change and then save the change you need to have your permission set to include modify, not just read for the document or folder that you are sharing. Go back to the security tab and change it for the user.

Both computers have all permissions set to allow.
