I can't set separate home screen and lock screen wallpapers on my Hudl 2

I can't seem to be able to set separate home screen and lock screen wallpapers on my Tesco Hudl 2 Tablet. When I try and set a wallpaper, it only gives me the option to apply wallpaper, which sets it on both the home screen and lock screen. It is running Android Lollipop 5.1.1
I don't want to install any apps that changes the default UI look of the tablet.

I have a Hudl tablet - - judging by the limited options available, it's not possible for Home screen & Lock screen to have different wallpapers on my first generation model - - and judging by the options you've described, your Hudl 2 is no different in that respect.

I'm guessing my only option is to root the tablet then? Or are there any apps that I can install which won't change the system UI?
