Did you measure it from power on until the desktop showed? That's what it looks like, but I'd just like to clarify, since I typically measure from the bootloader screen until the desktop shows myself.

CPU, opteron 175
RAM, 4 GB Kingston ddr.
Post takes 27:7ish seconds.
Drives: Vista, 300GB raptor.
XP, 320GB seagate
Win 7, 320 GB seagate.
So not quite an apples / apples comparison, but pretty close.
XP, after post to Skype sound, 2:59:30ish
Vista, 1:40ish
Win7, all over the place...
1:06, 1:25, :51 and :54. If I throw out the 1:25, average is :57.
I've been thinking how to measure 'work times'. Maybe open up an office doc? A game? Anything web-related is too variable. Maybe fo a re-calc on a spreadsheet? Or compress (zip) a copy of a large folder? Can't be codec related, as again too variable.
Oh well, open to suggestions. As to OP, keep up the work. Ignore the grammer nazis...
