OK , Last month i had only 1 gb (2x512) mb ddr400 Kingmax !! and it runs fine , since the last week that i bought 2 more kingstone ddr400 (2x512 mb) and install them , i feel so good in BF2 and FEAR , but to day i install the CPU-Z and it said that my memory run at 333 !! (2.5-2-2-6)
i check the bios and it said the same thing
i use the manual memory controler in bios and force my memory to run at 200 MHz , now CPU-Z said i have 4 x512 ddr400 !!
so whats this ? should i change the memory seting to AUTO and use DDR333 or is it good to force them to runs at ddr400 ???
(but since i change them into DDR400 i dont feel ANY difference in anything !!)
HELP ME PLEASE !!

It's normal for most motherboards to drop the DDR down to 333 when installing 4 modules. The normal solution is to set it manually in BIOS as you have done.

You won't notice a significant difference between 333 and 400 imo, but as long as the system is stable, I would recommend you leave it at 400 as that is what the memory is capable of (and there will be a difference, even though it's not that noticeable).

Hope this helps.

AMD never has made a ICM that can realy run 4 dimms right, but it should run four at rated speed with 2T enabled. Hope they fix that with AM2.

The only reason it would goto 333 is a AUTO setting in BIOS. It would do that for stablity, but you need to try to see what it will run at. Some DDR 400 can run DDR 600 if you overclock it (TCCD.) Most will run 420 or more, but four dimms will slow it down. With K8, 2T is manditory to use four dimms and increases memory lateny by 30% but just about 3% of a performance hit overall. It is better to run 2 dimms most of the time, but for BF2 four 512s are better than just two (memory hog.)

OK , in 1gb mode it sets to ddr400 at 2.5,3,3,7 when i installed 1 more gb of ram it went to ddr333 on 2.5,3,3,6 i use the manual settings and change it into ddr400 at 2.5,3,3,7 an now system runs cool and fine , i dont see any problem !!
thank you guyz !! 😀

its 2T by Defaulf , and when i changed it to 1T the system wont start !! then i restart the cmos and now eork with 2T ? so whats the deal ?

The Athlon memory controller has issues with 4 dimms. It will only run at 2T with all four dimms installed!

I have the same problem with my new 512mb stick. I have a 400mhz dimm and bought another one but when I put them together the frequency dropped to 333mhz.

What I am supposed to do ?
Sell these sticks and buy a 1gb dimm ?

thanks

If you only have two sticks they shouldn't default to 333 but you never know! Try going into the bios and selecting DDR400 (or 200Mhz depending upon your bios). Then you can verify in Windows with CPU-Z.

I set 400mhz in the bios (and the other options are on AUTO). But they still don't work at the right frequency.

I talk to the shop owner and he offered me to change the new stick. But I don't think it's a matter of substituion....

Some Asus motherboards only have a 'Limit' function for the memory clock speed. This means that it only prevents the frequency going above what you set as the limit in BIOS.

Some BIOS updates may fix this, but you will need to check for your motherboard.

However, as Flyguy stated, it's unusual to have that problem with only 2 sticks of memory.

If the sticks aren't matched, you may have other problems. The two sticks probably have different timing requirements, so you would probably have to set them to the slowest for each entry.

Unmatched memory might work better in single channel mode rather than dual channel so you might want to play with which slot you stuck the new stick in.

In a computer that has 512 mb RAM DDR200,can i put it out and put 2x512 DDR400???what solutions i have ?
