I don't hear audio in WMP in MP4 format?

I tried few things on the Internet, but they didn't work. I can hear audio in other formats like WMA though. I also tried to use VLC and it actually worked, but the video sometimes froze for no apparent reason and I also prefer to use WMP over VLC. I am using Windows 7. Any help?

Suggest you download a test MP4 file from somewhere first. If it works, the MP4 (or your MP4s) has corruption, or were created with codecs you don't have.

If it seems to be WMP, you could run the troubleshooter, or failing that uninstall / re-install / update it. It might refresh the settings doing that.
