1.) That's faulty information, the board actually supports all Socket 754 CPU's (including the A64 2800+, 3000+, both versions of the A64 3200+, and the 3400+ of course). The problem was documentation, MSI originally stated it supported the 3400+ and faster as the max speed, they later added the slower processors to the list on their site.
2.) It's available for $145 Here, and I'm sure you could look around for a better price at the other top sites!

I figure as long as your dropping a bunch of money on an upgrade, you might as well get the solidest board you can!

"solidest"?, he he--sorry crash, I couldn't resist.

Here is the deal buddy zipzoomfly far cry offer if you are going to buy the chip and mobo anyway that is. Also assuming you want and don't have the game "far cry". Even then, heck it is free. You could give it to a friend.
mwave mwave far cry offer has a simular offer-(Message cybercraig and ask him about that. It seems to be there one day and gone the next then back again-they have some kind of special fan/heatsink they offer with their oem cpu deals-I think that chaintech vnf3 250 is only $69 on that site=another great deal). Also new egg has the far cry offer but they don't offer that msi k8n neo plat mobo as part of it.

ps what's with that sig korn dude? Step into the light, bro. :>)

I(and others) have had simular questions re the msi board/cpu. Many of the test were done with 3200+ so I *knew* it worked but I double checked anyway:

----------------------------
Dear Customer,

The K8N Neo Platinum will support the Athlon 64 3200+ and you should have no problem using the Corsair TWINX 1GB memory kit. The K8N Neo Platinum has begun shipping to vendors.

other reliable people (such as crashman above) have assured me that it is also good for 2800+ and 3000+. I just don't understand why these big companies make such glaring newbie errors on their own websites. Perhaps a bunch of people went out and bought the faster chip but...I imagine just as many people hesitated buying the board because of it.

Hmm, an MSI K8N Neo Platinum and A64 3200+ with free Farcry is a far cry from a bad deal at zipzoomfly.

Hmm, I could turn that into a poem!

For parts
I'd go with zipzoomfly
For free
You get the game Farcry
The board
K8N MSI
And A64
Is all you'll need to buy.

Send me some money and I'll buy one and ship it to you. If you dont need Gigabit Lan or Firewire, the fuck1ng VNF3-250 just plain ROCKS! Stuck a gb of OCZ PC3500 in it and a 9600XT and POW! It jumped right to life. For $69.00 and a free Far-Cry you have to be NUTS not to get this board. I had my doubts, but not anymore!
