i got a new monitor ( HP 2310m ) to play my ps3 on.but when i connect my ps3 to it with hdmi cable the monitor doesnt detect i

Solution
Check output from the console to make sure it's HDMI (and might try a different cable) - also make sure the monitor is set to take input from proper HDMI (especially if it's a TV or has multiple HDMI input ports that are selectable)
I have reset the video options by holding down the power button a ton of times.I have tried using different hdmi cables.
I also set it to output on hdmi but still no luck.
p.s its not a faulty monitor because when i connect my laptop with it thru HDMI it works fine and its also HDCP compliant.

I have been trying since 2 days with no luck 🙁

Solution
Yes i have already seen this video and im doing everything right. 🙁
but unlike this video im not using an HDMI to DVI converter because my monitor has an HDMI port so i plug the HDMI cable directly into that port.

I have never used this HDMI port before i tried using it for the first time.Im pretty sure its not damaged but its just dirty and the connectors arent functioning properly.Any advice on how to clean up ?

I have to say I had the same issue connecting a PS3 to an older LCD TV with no hdmi. Ordered a dvi to hdmi cable didnt work - out of range error. Your simply trick worked a treat thanks !!!
