I have windows 8 HP laptop haven't had it long one year anyway was working fine this morning now turned it on again I get HP

Solution

Thanks for clarifying. This should fix it:

Step 1: Boot into BIOS on your computer.
Step 2: Go into your boot priority list.
Step 3: If you see "Windows Boot Manager" as number 1 in your priority, change it so that your hard drive is number 1.
Step 4: Save and exit BIOS.
Step 5: Reboot.

Hope this helps.

Solution

When you turn on the computer, there should be an HP splash screen. Toward the bottom it should have text that reads something like "Pres ESC for Startup menu". When you see that, hit the key that is provided. Usually ESC or DELETE is the key. From there, navigate through the screens until you get to one that says "Storage". within that menu, there will be the boot priority list.

I can't find anything that has storage on the list this is what I have to choose from f1 system information,f2system diagnostics,f9boot device options,f10bios setup and f11 which doesn't do anything because I tried to restore it went back to auto repair after a few minutes .when I started up the computer with CSC at the bottom left hand corner it said ESC..pause startup if this means anything

I went into boot options I have uefi boot order and legacy boot order . boot manager is in uefi and notebook hard drive is in legacy boot order uefi is highlighted and legacy support is disabled it says when legacy support is disabled bios will boot in uefi mode without csm to support newer os such as windows 8

F10 is BIOS, that's the one you want. When you hold F10, the BIOS screen appears. You'll need to navigate using the left and right arrow keys until the Storage tab is highlighted. This time, use the up and down arrow keys to navigate through the menu until the option Boot Order is highlighted. hit enter, and you'll see the boot priority of all the current devices. Make sure that the hard drive has a higher priority than the Windows repair option.

I found boot options no storage and I have no idea what to do next I do not see any repair options I'm sorry I don't understand any of this I just don't see anything you are referring to I'm sorry I wish I was more help if you want I can list what is on the page

This is the boot order it gave me uefi boot order is is boot manager, internal CD/DVD ROM drive,USB diskette on key/USB hard disk,USB CD/DVD ROM drive, network adapter. OK now legacy boot order is notebook hard drive, internal CD/DVD ROM drive USB diskette on key/USB hard disk, usb cd/DVD ROM drive network adapter

Here's another solution that I found. This doesn't make you mess around in BIOS:

Step 1: Select "Advanced repair options"
Step 2: Select "Troubleshoot"
Step 3: Select "Advanced Options"
Step 4: Select "Start up settings"
Step 5: Select "Restart"
Step 6: The computer should restart. Now you want to hit the 4 key, which is safe mode.
Step 7: You should be able to log in now. Restart the computer and the computer should boot normally.
