I need a program to monitor and keep my GPU safe

I have the program core temp and it is very helpful in monitoring my CPU. I also really like how i can make it shutdown my computer if my CPU gets top a certain temperature. However it only does all this for my CPU and i need a program to also do these tasks for my GPU. I have tried the program HWmonitor but i cannot shutdown my computer if my GPU reaches a certain temperature. Are there any programs that can do that? I have a FX-4130 (stock cooling system) and a gigabyte Radeon 7950.

Your GPU will throttle itself if it gets too hot, so there's no need to have anything with a shutdown switch setup. Similarly, your CPU will shutdown your PC on it's own to prevent damage without separate software.

That's good to know, but i would still like some way to be alerted when my GPU reaches certain temperatures, like on core-temp.

I would not rely on the machine shutting itself down. I've smoked a couple of GPUs (BFG 9800GTX 1GB) due to overheating. My XP machine does not shut itself down due to overheating. The fans were still running on these cards, but dust had clogged the strange heatsinks.

CpuId's HwMonitor will tell You what the temps are. After I screw with thermal stuff, I leave it running in the background and check the min/max periodically.

I don't know of an alarm program for temps. I would be useful if there were one.
