Hello Everyone,
I'm a new member here, and I have encountered a frustrating problem with my computer that I hope you can help me with. I was working on my PC during a recent thunderstorm when a minor power outage occurred. It was brief and didn't even cause my desktop to shut down; just the monitor blinked off for a second. However, after this incident, my DisplayPort seems to have stopped working.
Currently, I can still use HDMI, but not DisplayPort. This has stuck me at a 50Hz refresh rate, which could be better, especially for gaming and graphics work. Besides this issue, everything else is working fine. There are no other noticeable issues with gaming or general PC use.
Here are the specs of my computer:
CPU: Intel i9 13900K
CPU Cooler: EKWB EK-Quantum Velocity 2 CPU Water Block + EK-Quantum Kinetic TBE 160 DDC PWM (it's a full custom water-cool loop)
Motherboard: ASUS ProArt Z690-Creator WiFi
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB 64GB DDR5
SSD/HDD: 4 x Samsung - 980 PRO 2TB SSD PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe
GPU: Nvidia RTX 3080 Founders Edition
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 850W
Chassis: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X
OS: Windows 11
Monitor: Acer Predator x34
I'd like to add that the PSU and Monitor are the oldest part of this build, dating back to March 2016.
I've attempted to rectify this problem by clearing the CMOS, changing the DisplayPort Cable, and even trying out every DisplayPort port on my GPU. Unfortunately, none of these steps seemed to solve the issue.
At this juncture, I would like to know if the problem is with a broken DisplayPort controller on the GPU. Alternatively, I am also considering if it may be time to replace the PSU and/or the GPU. Before making any decisions, however, I would appreciate your advice and input on this matter.
Looking forward to hearing your expert opinions.
I really appreciate any help you can provide.
