i need help w/oc'ing a 700 tbird. i currently have it @ 850. the voltage is around 1.9v, and my ps is 300W. i don't want to o/c the bus, just the multiplier. i have an asus a7v mobo, so i'm changing the multiplier w/ the dip switches. it currently has a super orb heatsink on it, and temperatures are floating around 31*C. for some reason, everytime i switch the multiplier to 9 or 9.5, the system takes forever to load up windoze, or it freezes during loadup. sometimes, the system just restarts on its own during windows loading, and it's even shutdown once (all by itself-i'm not touching anything.) usually, during windoze bootup, it will say "windows protection error. please reboot your system" in an otherwise blank screen (as in dos). i don't know why my cpu won't overclock to 900 or higher, where 900 should be easy pie to achieve. any suggestions as to why i can't o/c any higher? (i can o/c the bus, but not more than 206)

I can get my 700 to 900 but crashes in games. I'm stuck at 850. I'm on an abit KT7-raid. Now someone told me if you do the mod on the volage to 2.0 you have a better chance of getting a better overclock. Just remember not all cpu's are created the same.

Make sure you're running the latest BIOS and other drivers. They will make your system more stable. Use bios 1005a, it is very stable.

HAPPY NEW YEAR Y'ALL!!

You may have to check your connections on the L1 bridge. Sometimes if they are not connected well you can OC some, but the proc isn't completely unlocked.
