Hey all.

So I have been running the same pc specs for the past 7 years, although I am relatively happy with what im getting, i'm starting to feel like my PC is running slower than usual, with the occasional overheating of my GPU.

I was thinking about upgrading my current GPU (1080) to a 3070 or 3080, im however not sure wether its the right decision/right choices for GPU upgrade

I would very much appreciate an advise from more veteran enthusiasts!

I mainly play non-demanding games (e.g: League of Legends), but occasionaly play some PC breaking games such as Call of Duty.

My latest Userbencmark reults: [UserBenchmarks: Game 69%, Desk 87%, Work 64%](https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/64313887)

**CPU**|[Intel Core i7-8700K](https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Intel-Core-i7-8700K/Rating/3937)|83.5%

**GPU**|[Nvidia GTX 1080](https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Nvidia-GTX-1080/Rating/3603)|80.8%

**SSD**|[Samsung 860 Pro 256GB](https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Samsung-860-Pro-256GB/Rating/3950)|83.3%

**SSD**|[Microsoft Storage Space Device 268GB](https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/SpeedTest/557163/Microsoft-Storage-Space-Device)|100.4%

**HDD**|[Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB](https://hdd.userbenchmark.com/Seagate-Barracuda-720014-1TB/Rating/1849)|110%

**RAM**|[Corsair CMR32GX4M4A2666C16 4x8GB](https://ram.userbenchmark.com/SpeedTest/283093/Corsair-CMR32GX4M4A2666C16-4x8GB)|59.8%

**MBD**|[MSI MAG Z390 TOMAHAWK (MS-7B18)](https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/MSI-MAG-Z390-TOMAHAWK-MS-7B18/101331)|

I would like the budget of the new GPU to be less than 600$, I saw a discount on the 4060 Ti that of 479$ and was wondering if its worth getting it since its a bit cheaper than the other RTX 3070 and 3080
and if it would match my motehrboard listed above or not.

Sorry for the long post.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Userbenchmark nor any other app will not and cannot tell you the make and model of your PSU, let alone it's age. Please mention that and what the PSU powered during those 7 years.

One other thing is what resolution will you be taxing the GPU at?

Hello, Thank you!

my current PSU is:
CORSAIR RMx Series RM750x CP-9020179-NA 750 W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply

I run a 1440p on my main monitor in which i mainly use for games and also Wallpaper engine, and other non-demanding work related things. while my 2nd monitor is running 1080p I use it for minor internet tabs and reading PDF files.

I hope I provided what you asked

Thanks

Your userbenchmark score shows your GPU isn't working as it should be (0 percentile), you mentioned it's overheating, have you done the basics like blowing the dust out? You're losing performance there, and it should be easy to get it back.

You could upgrade your GPU to an RTX3070 and at 1440p you would see a good improvement over the GTX1080, in those less demanding games. In the more CPU demanding games you would probably see larger spikes between the highs and lows, but on average you should still see some small gains.

FWIW: many here consider userbenchmak as junk science.

Run a simple test to verify that you could actually benefit from a stronger graphics card.
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Your ssd devices are relatively small at 256gb.
Once they reach 90% full, they will start to slow down and lose endurance.
