I need help

Hello,i wanted to add another 4gb ram to my pc so i bought an used 4gb and it seemed ok,but when i installed it and turned my pc i didnt get any display at all ,so i wanted to check if everything was and when i opened the case i could smell burnt plastic where the ram slots are and decided to remove the ram i just installed (there was 4gb which i didnt touch) and still no display.I removed all the parts and inserted old ones that i know they work,still the same.I presume mobo got fried?

It sure sounds like it.

As to why it fried....perhaps something was wrong with the slots....but I wouldn't try that RAM in anything else either.

it could just be the used ram you bought is bad or not compatible. with some mobos you have to install the first 1 or 2 sticks of ram in certain slots for them to work.
