I bought a pair of headphones (V-Moda M100s) a while back, and they have been great, except for the fact that I could never get the mic on them to work while playing audio. The thing is, I have both a headphone and mic jack on the front panel of my PC case, and plug the headphones into the headphone one. I'm not quite sure if the mic can even work like this, or if I need some kind of splitter in order to plug the headphones into both the headphone and mic jacks at once. If you happen to know, I'd really appreciate some help! :)

Your headset has a single combi jack-plug so cannot work properly if the host computer/laptop has separate mic & earphone jacks..

Your headset was designed for the more recent, single combi-jack found on many laptops today (ie mic input and earphones output combined into one jack

However, you can convert the single combi jack-plug on your headset to two separate jack-plugs using a splitter cable such as this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=&sku=945088&gclid=CPuV0Kj59cECFc5aMgodXDQAnw&Q=&is=REG&A=details
