Hi
So i have a bit of a weird question. What i need to know is if take a piece of metal and short all of the usb pins of a usb flash drive (memory stick) together for a prolonged time will that damage or degrade the stick in any way?
I know it doesn't do anything if i do it for a minute because i tested it but will it damage it if i leave it shorted for like weeks or months?

Solution
It won't do any harm. In fact it should protect the drive from ESD damage if you store it that way. Obviously you wouldn't power it up in that state.
Wow that was a fast reply! Thank you!

Well to answer your question i have an old 10 port usb hub which i accidentally destroyed by plugging it to the wrong power supply. So now i just want to use it as a base/holder for all my usb sticks. And as you can guess by now i measured the usb pins on that hub and they are all shorted and i didn't know if that would hurt my memory sticks!
