Asrock 939 Dual SATA is the board you want( or the VISTA version which is vista certified ), runs AGP at full speed, has a PCI-E x8 slot for when you upgrade your card, a SATA and a SATA 2 connector, and you should get a decent enough OC with it if your into that( i managed a 20% OC on a 4200+ easily )

I am running a 3700+ (same core as you) on the 939 DUAL-VSTA by Asrock and it has fullspeed AGP and fullspeed PCI-E.

I did a volt-mod on the board, which was pretty easy, and was able to go from 2.2 to 2.8Ghz super stable.

Asrock is the only way my friend, cheap too.

I bet you are going to groan and complain about Asrock being your only option.

My advice, skip that and buy the board.

I had an asus board before i upgraded to the Asrock. Upgraded you say? Asus to Asrock? Thats an upgrade?

The Asus wouldn't let me get past 2.6Ghz stable, but the Asrock lets me sit just under 7000 in 3DMark05 with my ULI AGP and FX-57 speed 3700+.

Over here in the GTA they can be found for about 75$ Canadian.

This MB will do exactly what you need for less than $60 USD. It has full speed AGP 8x and uses DDR memory.

They don't make the AsRock boards anymore but you might find one floating around there some where. If I were you I would pick up that MSI mother board from E-Wiz. That has a full speed AGP slot.

The asrock has a full speed 8xAGP and a full speed pcie16x (or 8x i forget and im to lazy to look at the box) besides there is no difference if the the board has and agp4x or 8x itll run just as fast .

If it's any consolation, I had my very first issue with my ASRock 939Dual-SATAII this evening (after 10 months smooth sailing). In the process of swapping out graphic cards, I decided to unplug my SATAII connector from the motherboard (for better cable management) and spent the next 90 minutes trying to get it to recognize my hard drive again. Up and running smooth again, now, but took awhile before I could even get back into BIOS.

-Wolf sends

P.S. It's a full speed x16 PCI-E slot.

sounds like a faulty SATA cable tbh

Thought of that. Swapped out for a new one. No change. But as I said. It's back up and running smooth again. 8)

ahh well as long as its working :), the only issue i had was putting it in another case which was wired wrong for the front panel( crappy case didnt have wiring instructions ), so basically i had to keep switching it off on boot, eventually XP got corrupted from all my messing, but as i had used a SATA 2 driver on XP install it couldnt detect the drive outside the BIOS, solved it by plugging it into the SATA 1 port

He will just need to be careful. Some boards have an AGP express slot and that is not a 4x or 8x agp slot it is actually slower and really criples your performance when using an agp card.

I have two of those AsRock boards for the 939 and if you can find one they are great but unfortunately AsRock told me they no longer make them.

snif......

Thats a shame, im fond of my old one, and have never ever had problems with it,even when overclocking, compared to my current rig with 2 asus boards that died
