I have a KT266A Gigabyte 7VTXH Motherboard that i've had for 2 1/2 yrs running an AMD 1600+ with 768MB of OCZ Latency 2 PC2400 Memory and a Radeon 7500 Video Card running 2 monitors. I have Windows XP Professional and don't have Roxio CD Creator or anything like that.

I have unchecked "Automatically restart" under Startup and Recovery.

No matter what I've tried so far, when I shutdown my machine still reboots. I've tried a bunch of different drivers for my Video Card, no change. Any more ideas? I've searched but haven't found any, i'm sure someone has a solution.

Heck even the past few months now, sometimes my machine won't start, I have to shutoff my UPS for about 20 seconds, then turn it back on and it will. The reboot problem has been happening for a very long time, the power problem only the last few months.

I notice nobody has an answer for you... and I don't have one either. I just was gonna let you know I had the exact same problem on a completely different setup a while back (Via KT133 board with Windows ME) and like you, no matter what I tried it restarted every time I tried to shut it down. I never figured it out and eventually just tore that rig apart. My guess was that it had something to do with the RAID setup I had on that old rig... but I'm really not sure. Maybe it's a Via thing...

Pretty soon, i'm going to upgrade my 1600+ to a 2400+ and buy a DVD Burner. I'm probably going to upgrade my 300W PS to a 430W PS as well. Then i'm going to burn off some stuff and then re-format both of my drives and reinstall Windows XP Pro and see if that fixes it. I'll probably do that next month, so i'll see if that helps.

Thanks for the bump at least 🙂
