So currently i have a dell optiplex 9020 mt with i7-4790, i have upgraded the powersupply to a 650 watt psu, and an rtx 2060 super in it and i wanted to upgrade the motherboard in so i can put a new cpu so my gpu doesn't bottleneck. I want to know what motherboards i can put into it and if it was possible to do so.

Buy a new case.
New motherboard, CPU, RAM = new PC.
A new case is a small cost factor in that.

Dell cases have a reputation for not following the standardized placement for stand-off screws. You would be better off getting a new case as per USAFRet comments above.

What model cpu?
Case is standard mATX. So you can put any standard mATX board in it.
But yes - optiplex 9020 mt is not a proper pc case for a gaming computer.

So I can put any motherboard that's mATX into my Dell Optiplex 9020 Mt that already has a power supply and graphics card and would I have to get any adapters for proprietary cables?
