I was downloading windo 10 when my screen went blank and stayed thatway, Now when I switch on the power light comes on but not

when downloading windows 10 on my HP notebook the screen went blank and stayed that way. Now when I switch on the power light comes on but the screen stays blank and the computer does not boot up. Any suggestions to curing this problem will be gratefully received. Brian C.

I'd disconnect the hard drive and see if you are able to access the bios at all.

Or disconnect the cmos battery cable, if equipped with a non-soldered CMOS battery, and leave it out for about five minutes, then reinstall install it and attempt to reboot.

Was Windows 10 "downloading" or "installing" when the problem began?

What is your notebook model number and how old is it?

Thanks to everyone who responded. My computer is a compaq615. To reach the Bios battery it is necessary to completely strip the unit down to get at the motherboard. Which I have done and in the process discovered a burnt out component on the main board so I am afraid that it is terminal but once again many thanks for your helpful responses.
