Recently I've been looking in to upgrading my laptops processor, the laptops model is a Toshiba Satellite C50-A-1DV. The processor that is in it is a I3 3110m dual core, and the I7 3612qm is a quad core but they have the same Lithography and TDP. I just want to know if new processor will really work and if the motherboard supports a quad core. Also the model of the motherboard is Intel PT10F. Finally the CPU isn't soldiered on and the sockets are both the same (G2)

Solution
Not necessarily.

Laptop firmware/BIOS typically only supports the CPU(s) that were available stock, from the factory. They're really not meant to be upgraded.

I can't find too much on that series of laptops. I can find variants with a Celeron through to an i3, or AMD versions.

So, considering the only Intel options I can find top out with an i3..... I wouldn't be confident, but cannot guarantee either way.
