g3220 with 750 ti in a heart beat, however a g3258 would be a MUCH better option.
Athlon 750K is good, however it only supports a dead socket and is only better than intel Pentium in very highly threaded apps, which games aren't in.
I agree with you on the dead socket part. But if he isn't going to upgrade his parts for 3-4 years it is better to go for an athlon. If he is going to upgrade its a different story.
