TBH a big maybe. In most instances they are the same mobo that they got at first release that has been sitting on a shelf. My thoughts would be that IF it's a Micro Center they "may" offer to update it for you if you buy. They offer pretty good service.

 
In a nutshell, with AMD, the 300 series boards are 1st generation boards and should work out of the box with ryzen 1000 series.

400 series boards=compatible with ryzen 4000 series out of the box.

The 1700x is a decent CPU, I have one and it's a good cpu, but if you are just gaming, a 2600 or 2600x is probably a better option unless you get a good deal on the 1700x and overclock.
