I5 2500k vs 3570k which its the best for future

I wonder if you guys can help me to choose which of those two are the best on:

Performance, efficiency, power consumption, future proof.

I mostly use for play, but I gonna be more green (won't overclock, right now I have amd ii x4 965 stock clock)
I live 35 miles from Microcenter and they have those two on offer with their respective motherboards.
So help me to choose which one its the best, thank you for your advice....

If you won't OC, just go with the 3570K. Either one is fine for well into the foreseeable future, but the 3570K gives you PCIe 3.0, whenever that becomes useful for gaming purposes.

Still would go 2500k purely for overclocking and heat.
Its cheaper and pcie 3.0 isnt exactly needed and most likely wont be for a while.
Future proof doesnt.exist but if you have a hunch pcie 3.0 will be useful soon enough then the 3570 might be an.option although temperatures with overclocking are reportedly high with.performance not really worth the temps considering what the 2500k can do.

Yeah, getting the 3570k is more future proof because you will be able to take advantage of PCI-e 3.0 later on when more powerful PCI-e 3.0 card comes out. The 2500k will treat a PCI-e 3.0 card like a PCI-e 2.0 card. Not a big deal now because PCI-e 3.0 cards are not fast enough to be slowed down in a PCI-e 2.0 slot, but in 2 or 3 years that may change.

The 3570k also consumes a little less power; probably around 15w - 20w under load.

Plus if your video card should ever fail you can attempt to play games using the Intel HD 4000 while waiting for a replacement card. It's around 40% more powerful than the Intel HD 3000 in the 2500k. Sounds impressive, but that just means it's almost as good as a Radeon HD 5550 instead of a Radeon HD 5450.

thank you for your rapid response, the apartment where i live it's a little warm so that's it one of the reasons why I dont like overclock and the other the spend energy, thats why I gonna change my phenom because its 125w and warm

You can throw-in one of the excellent after-market coolers. It will keep your CPU in good shape even if you over clock. Take Intel's fine tune plan protection for $20, on selected i5/i7s with i5 3570K inclusive, i5 3570K is a good choice.

2500k, people say the ipc is better on the 3570k, its not. infact the 2500k has a notably better ipc for some things (like winrar.) the 2500k is cheaper. the 2500k overclocks better. the 2500k runs 20 degrees colder when overclocked.

intel cheesed out on a couple things with the new ivybridge cpus. the result is 20 degrees more heat. sandybridge is a proven workhorse. they overclock better, do it cooler and dont die. ivybridge runs hot as hell overclocked and isnt a proven workhorse, i dont trust it.

go with the better performer thats tried and true... thats the 2500k

Well on US pricing the 3570k is $212 while the 2500k is $220 on reference pricing, so actually SB is more expensive, a whole $8 more.

This is why SB is a rather pointless endeavor to go to with IB available;

1] 60 series chipset motherboards are largely discontinued, reserve stocks are kept but the chipset is dead.

2] Goes with 1] It is a pointless endeavor to put a SB on a 70 series chipset motherboard, you will have no benefits which are available exclusively to IB.

3] IB is faster where it matters, again it is a minor upgrade in performance but one nonetheless. IMC performance is significantly faster than SB.

4] Why go with older more expensive architecture? 60 series + 2500K is more expensive than 3570K + 70 series chipset.

well on microcenter the difference is 20 bucks more expensive (3570k) against 2500k, not much and one of the things that like about 3570k it's the low 77w power but, I gonna a better one so its a little hard to choose...

You still do get 4x integrated USB3 ports and 2x 6G-SATA ports which translates into *7x boards being/becoming cheaper than *6x boards that require extra components to achieve the same feature set. PCIe 3.0 lanes are driven directly by the CPU so Ivy Bridge CPUs are required for that regardless of chipset.

So it is not completely pointless.

many people are saying that ivy bridge cpu's have heatness issue, yes it is when you overlock too much that cross it limits, but the main point is that when you overclock 2500k to 4.5ghz then it's mean it is still slower then 3570k 4.2ghz ivy has great overclocking potential than sandy series, that's why it doesn't overclock too much also you'll be beneficial from PCI-E 3.0 with 3570k when you're using two beast cards they would be run on their native bandwidth. 3570k has more 100mhz clock speed, from my side it is clear get the 3570k..
