Hey People.

Recently bought a Laptop and it has an intel i5 3210m processor. Started playing the new Football Manager 2013 and on game status it says "4 Processors" (On my main computer I have a AMD Phenom II 965 which is definitely a quad core and that says 4 processors) so I ran DXDIAG and that also says "4 CPUs" for my i5. I'm a Technician so know a lot about computers but this has confused me because I always though i5s are not Quad Cores.

Any solutions to what it might be? I also get 7.1 in Windows Index (I know its useless but it gives you a estimate number)

Thanks.

Some are dual core some quad, but yours have hyper threading ,which makes your computer know there is 4 logical cores when there is 2 physical cores.

Laptop Core i5s are dual-cores with hyperthreading. Desktop Core i5s, apart from some older models, are quad-cores without hyperthreading.

Hyperthreading is not a substitute for real cores, but it's better than nothing (for gaming only barely better though).

No they're not. Intel Pentium, I3 and I5's are all dual core with hyperthreading. I7's are also dual core with hyperthreading unless they have a QM in the name then they are quad core. For the OP your I5 is a dual core with hyper threading.
