this cpu scores a 7.6 in the WEI on stock settings, now i know WEI is trash for benchmarking for the most part and should be used to detect problems but i want to know if anybody has gotten a score of 7.8 in WEI with a 3570k and on what settings? i get a 7.7 on 4.2ghz turbo boost, trying to get a 7.8 to raise my score to a 7.8 because my gpu scores a 7.8, ssd a 7.9 and ram a 7.9

It's hard to overclock your way into a better WEI score. I did it on my e8400, but it required a 1GHz+ overclock (33%). For the RAM, I didn't notice much of a difference even with a 33%-ish overclock. (800->1128) The thing is, WEI takes all the variations in performance, and squeezes it down into a 1-7.9 rating. So that .1 or .2 could represent quite a difference in performance. In some cases, the difference between a dual and quad core of the same architecture.

I managed to get a Pentium G620 a boost by .2 in WEI. This was just the FSB overclock. I was impressed with the result, but I also now have the I5 3570K to play with.

I have a website where I have been posting small reviews and stuff about my hardware, it's www.youramazingthings.com :)

Also, I built a brand new I7 2011 system with a 4.4 overclock, the bundle alone was over £600, that scores 7.8 in WEI for the processor. Not worth the money in my mind, but the guy was an enthusiast and had to have the latest hardware.

I have a 7.8 overall system score with a 2600k @ 4.5GHz. This should still be possible for your processor was Windows 7 can really only utilise 2 cores at once so Hyper-threading is meaningless here.

i5 3570k @ 4.6 should get 7.8. Close all other programs before beginning the benchmark.

If you are overclocking the turbo frequencies, the 2 core one should be >4.5

Windows Experience Index is a joke. Always has been; always will be. When I first built this sytem; I scored a 7.9 on the processor at stock. ~20 months later I score a 7.7 running at 4Ghz. The "values" will change over time if you update your system I learned. Same with my E8400 in the Vista days. It was 5.9 for quite a while and then dropped off slowly.
