Hello,

I just finished building an HTPC for the living room and everything is up and running just fine. However, I noticed that the idle temps for my i5 4570, hover around the low to mid 40s. Is that too high? I was expecting mid to high 30s.

Thank in advance for your response!

Low to mid 40s at idle does sound a bit too hot for stock speeds. I would remove the CPU cooler (are you using the stock intel one?), reapply thermal paste, and remount it. If you haven't already, make sure there is decent airflow (it is a HTPC, so it will never have great airflow), and add an extra intake fan if you haven't already.
