i5 4590 high temps

My i5 4590 seems to be running a little hot while gaming. Idle temps are usually around 30C but while gaming they go up to 78-80C. I know this still isn't too bad but I've heard others only getting around 65-70C while gaming. I'm using the stock cooler so maybe that's the only problem but I was wondering if they should be lower?

yeah it's the stock cooler, I'd highly recommend upgrading to a Cooler master hyper 212 EVO, that will keep temps down.

My 4460 reaches 60-65C while gaming with the stock cooler. Still, 78C is too high, even for the stock cooler.

Thanks for the responses guys. It seems to vary by game. Dota 2 I don't go above 60 but BF4 I'm at 80 /shrug

Guess its just how intense the game is.

My i3 gets that high on the stock cooler. It is what it is.

True. I think my case cooling is pretty good. I have 2 intake in the front and 2 exhaust in the rear/top of the case. Must just be the stock cooler or crappy pre applied thermal paste they use 😛

I have i5 4590 and my temperatures when I play games are 50-60 C, the average is 55 with the stock cooler. I will buy the cooler master 212 evo in a couple of days, I have 3 intake fans(120mm,120mm and 140mm) and 4 exhaust fans in the rear/top (all 120mm)
