i5 6300HQ vs i7 4720HQ Which is better for 3D rendering applications?

As the title implies, I've been searching and trying to compare what processor is better in handling 3D applications like Autodesk 3DS max, Maya, or Blender. I haven't found any solid conclusion. So as my last resort, I'm asking here if anyone knows which processor is better at it.

I need to be mobile so, I have to stick to laptops.

They are both quad cores, but the i7 4720hq has hyper threading and higher clocks speeds. I think it would be a bit better for what you are going to use it for.

Well i5-6300hq is more power efficient, plus ram is a bit faster. Its hard to say which is more valuable for you. I would go for newer technology, but final decision if up to your gut.

I thought about that as well. Honestly, without actually testing them side by side, you won't know what kind of difference that would make. In your application, you would want the higher bandwidth RAM obviously, but I think you will benefit more from the extra threads.
