Question i5-6400 on a Z370-F Gaming motherboard?

Will a i5-6400 processor work on a Z370-f gaming motherboard? Its the same chipset/socket so it should work right?

i5-6400 works on 100 series (Sky lake) and 200 series (Kaby lake) Intel boards.
It is not compatible with 300 series boards (Coffee lake).

I'd think if you had a Z370 of any type you'd want at least an 8700K for it...
