i5-8600k cooler help

Ok so I'm helping setup a i5-8600k for a friend. He bought an Arctic Alpine 11 Gt Air Cooler. I personally know nothing about it. Will this cooler do fine with no overclocking?

no, it won't chuck that thing in the trash. it isn't much better than a stock intel cooler and won't help you to OC that chip and keep it cool in future. Go buy a decent CPU cooler or AIO for that PC

He doesn't plan on doing any OC in the future. Can you recommend a cheap air cooler?

yea, I was gonna go with hyper evo 212 for him, but him case is pretty small. The 212 would have been too tall

There are two reviews of that cooler on newegg.
both terrible.
I suppose since he already bought it, you could install it and run.
I would return it unopened.
But, what a waste for a really nice processor like the 8600K!!
Best to ask for opinions BEFORE you buy.

What is the make/model of the case?
What will you need to put inside?
If you have 145mm available, the cryorig H7 will fit.

Low profile downdraft coolers are not very efficient.
You may be needing to look at a liquid cooler if your case is really small.

I might also point out that if you do not overclock a 8600K, you are leaving some 30% performance on the table.

If he was to use this cooler as a temp thing, would it be ok? It would prob be 2-3 weeks before he could get a better cooler. Would that be fine, he plays games like fallout 3 and Fallout NV, and a shit ton of minecraft
