Hello,

I recently updated the BIOS on my P8P67-M ASUS board from 0805 to 3701, after this when my overall CPU usage is at 10% idle, Core 0 is at around 80% usage in Task Manager. This is in Windows 7 64bit. Overall performance has about halved due to this. Any idea what is causing this?

Thanks,

Nick

Windows measures processor idle time as the fraction of all time spent running the system idle process. If it's at 80% usage, there's something in the background that's running. Take a look at task manager and find out what it is.

I ran Malwarebytes in safe mode and no objects were found. I did a Full Virus Scan and nothing was found. Even in safe mode my CPU 0 is being tasked very hard. I do not see anything in task manager that is using my CPU. Only 2 GB of my 16GB of memory are actually being used. Any idea what is causing this?

If you see nothing at all then it's probably a driver. I suggest doing a full reinstall, it'll be faster than trying to figure out what's wrong.
