Basically what it mentions in the title.

It's worth noting I currently have the i7-4790 with H81-E33. The motherboard is very limited, so I would potentially need to upgrade that.

I have the option to purchase a great-value PC, including the i7-3930k and P9X79 Pro - along with more RAM and a much better PSU.

I'm just debating to buy this new computer, and use the new i7-3930k with motherboard, and whether it will actually increase my performance. (Mainly in streaming / gaming in PUBG / CS).

If more information is needed, please comment!

Thanks!

I'd go with the 4790. With 4 cores/8 threads you're set for your usage. No game/stream is going to leverage 6 cores/12 threads, which removes the reason why that CPU would be a better pick. I would not choose a 130W CPU these days, not when you have an alternative. But then I don't like power hungry components, you may feel different.

the 4790 has much better IPC, so it is very much superior for gaming

Okay, thanks for the response. It has a higher passmark score of 12,000+ when the 4790 has a score of just under 10,000. Do you think it could help performance at all? Because this option of purchasing this computer would also help as I would be able to upgrade some other components anyway.

no

because the games you listed dont use many cores - most games wont - , so a better multicore score on a synthetic benchmark is irrelevant

also how on earth would it help when you are wasting money on a new platform that gives you no benefits?

Upgrade what you have, get a better gpu and power supply with 16gb of ram and a ssd
