So I'm upgrading from AMD to Intel, and my choices right now are:
i7-4790k with a ASUS Pro Gamer LGA 1150 mobo
or
i5-4690k with a ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO

The i7 and mobo combo come out to around 500 dollars and the i5 and mobo combo comes out at around $450.
Which would be the better upgrade for gaming and a little bit of video editing. (I mostly play Arma 3, DayZ, BF4/H)
Thanks for the help!

Just thought I'd throw this out there, but why is a 4690k and motherboard going to cost $450? It's obviously your choice, but what exactly does a $210 motherboard have that a motherboard literally half the price doesn't in the same tier? That's really expensive for a motherboard that didn't even make it to tier 1 in my opinion.

Here's a 4690k and a motherboard in the same tier just as an example. It shouldn't cost $450. For that matter there are motherboards for $100 in the same tier as well, this wasn't going bottom of the barrel to knock $100 off that price. $20 more for the bk edition of the board listed below gets you a 5yr warranty instead of 3yrs.

CPU:...
Gaming wise, you wont see any noticeable difference, other that the i7 4790k has a higher base frequency, which would help in CPU driven titles, which would help since you play two games that require you to have the best performance per core possible. But, there won't be a noticeable difference in performance, and the i5 would be a better choice for price/performance
But with video editing, the i7 would win hands down. And since there is only a 50$ difference( more would be another choice), you'll be better off with it.
With both of them, you'll still get great performance.

I would go with the i5
Currently I have the same i5 and the Pro Gamer MoBo and they are both great!

But since it is $50 cheaper I feel you should go with the i5 Combo

If you really really really (3x Really) want the system to perform well in video editing get the i7, but with the i5 the video editing will not be that bad either, but since you indicated "a little bit of video editing" I would still head in the i5-4690k direction

In gaming, you will not notice much of a difference :)

A 4790k runs $100 more than the 4690k but going with a $210 motherboard pretty well negates the cost savings of going with the i5. At that point you're better going with the i7, but why pair the i7 with a cheaper motherboard and the i5 with a more expensive one I'm not sure.

Yah I would recommend this as well^
Or if you are feeling the ASUS Motherboard
get the i5-4690K and the ASUS Z97-Pro gamer, and that will cost you no more than $350 I believe
