Hello
I really, really need your help to decide the CPU.

I am building new PC and i want to call it PC workstation.

My major work is 3D rendering interior exterior render scenes in HD resolution, with heavy 3D files and high polygon count.

I think this CPU i7 6700K SKYLAKE will do the job i. it is not the beast i would like to have but i think it will perform great with heavy 3D files and improve render time, which is the most important thing for me.

My new PC specs:
Motherboard: Asrock Z170 Extreme7+
CPU: INTEL i7 6700K SKYLAKE
Cooler: Noctua NH-C14S
RAM: CORSAIR CMK16GX4M2A2133C13 VENGEANCE LPX BLACK 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 2133MHZ DUAL KIT
GPU: VGA MSI GEFORCE GTX960 4GD5T
PSU: CORSAIR CS SERIES MODULAR CS850M 850W 80PLUS GOLD CERTIFIED
PC Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro
PC Fans: Be Quiet Pure Wings 2 120mm x3pcs
SSD: SAMSUNG MZ-75E250B/EU 850 EVO SERIES 250GB 2.5'' SATA3
i will use my old HDD with that machine

Total cost 1650 euros

Thank you in advance

The i7 5820k is a GREAT CPU. The extra 2cores(4threads) will be good for your rendering, the speed isn't an issue. Depending on the program, your CPU is the one that will be used unless you enable GPU rendering. What programs do you render with.

The 5820k is also great for gaming since it's speeds are still good.

this will be a work Pc. render and working same time i would like to think.

I rendered a scene the other day and it took me about 12 hours, 1600 x 1300 px with high render settings. but my PC is old for this kind of work now.

If you like that motherboard and don't want to spend 200-300$ on an X99 motherboard go for the i7 6700k
If you're loaded and want the best renderer(of these two), then go for the 5820k with a good X99 board. (5820k is a budget) Compared to say the 5930k(3.5Ghz and 40 PCIe lanes over the 5820ks 3.3Ghz and 28 PCIe lanes) or the 1000$ 5960X 8-cores(16T) at 3.0Ghz/40lanes.
There are of course more options.

For rendering go for cores, but don't HEAVILY sacrifice speed.

And yes you would need a different motherboard for the LGA2011-v3 CPUs.
Honestly though a good X99 board would be around the same price as that board and the CPUs are pretty much the same price. Honestly I'd go 5820k for rendering.

You haven't boughten anything correct?

Here are some motherboard I recommend:

Do you like lots USB? I can supply ASUS X99-DELUXE/U3.1 <-- ONLY SUPPORTS 64GB RAM
Has your default double RJ-45 LAN.
Wireless LAN - Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac - Supports dual band frequency 2.4/5 GHz
Support ASUS Wi-Fi Go! Utility - Up to 1300Mbps transfer speed
Bluetooth V4.0

Also ASRock Fatal1ty X99X Killer or ASRock X99 OC Formula. Both a bit cheaper with less USB and support 128GB RAM

They all have different PCIe configs so you can check those out. They all have 8-10 Sata6Gbps.

Thank you Ximerous

What do you mean ONLY SUPPORTS 64GB RAM? i must have 64GB RAM for this motherboard?

I changed my specs.
I will take i7 5820K with ASUS X99-PRO/USB3.1 motherboard after all.

Now i am thinking about WATER COOLING.
I am not sure if i overclock the CPU but it is a possibility...

If i use water cooling i don't need any other fans wright?
Any suggestions for water cooling?

Sorry, only supports UP TO 64GB ram. You can easily OC that CPU to 4Ghz+ plenty of people get it to 4.5Ghz+ as well. You don't need a water cooler if you don't OC but since it's good at it I would go good water cooler. If you don't you still have to buy an aircooler because it won't come with one.

The NZXT Kraken x61 is a great water cooler. I have one and it preforms well, you can google around as well. You still need other case fans if you have water cooling.

I think you could fit a 280mm/360mm rad at the top of your case. Then have say an intake or two at the front with another exhaust in the back.

Same goes for ASUS X99-PRO/USB3.1 for RAM?
NZXT Kraken x61 looks awesome thank you

I am not expert on OC, but is it safe enough for the CPU for life warranty. is it damaging the life span of the CPU?

Imagine this CPU overclocked and rendering many hours per day...

Overclocking is easy these day, no need to be an expert. You can google around/ask here + some videos to teach you how to mess with it till it's stable.

Also you don't have to, or if you do you don't have to really OC it. But if you wanna get some extra preformance bump it up to 3.5-4.0ghz. If you get a stable OC and your temps/voltages aren't too high then there is no reason to worry.

Thank you Ximerous you have been very helpful.

I am going for water cooling and some extra 120mm fans now.
i cant wait to build this PC i am a little bit out of budget around 1800 euros without HDD and operation system.

My last question, with this motherboard ASUS X99-PRO/USB3.1 can i use server CPUs like Xeon E5-2667 v3?
is it OK to use this server CPU for standard computer?

Yes it can, since they are both LGA 2011-v3
But you cannot use LGA 2011 chips.

Yes you can use the server CPU for standard use. Xeons just allow for the use of ECC Memory and are meant to be run 24/7 having different stability features.

Go for an SSD/HDD combo.

There are cheaper X99 motherboards if you don't need ALL those features.
Such as the ASRock X99 Extreme4

oh yes and i don't see so much differences... why asus x99 pro so expensive? i think asus is more reliable...
