I want to buy a ASUS z390 prime-a because my current motherboard is extremely useless but I have a 8700 so I understand that I wont be able to overclock it etc. The Motherboard I want to buy has everything that I want I think however I am not sure wether or not I should just wait to upgrade both my CPU and Mobo or if I can just go for a better mobo. I dont feel like I need a new CPU for like 1 or 2 years (but I plan on upgrading to the RTX3070 so idk about throttling).
Should I upgrade the mobo regardless or not?

Solution
The case is a Coolermaster TD500 Mesh
Ive been looking at the ASUS Prime z390-a for a motherboard so my budget is around 150€
The PSU I bought was a SeaSonic FOCUS PX-750 80+ Plat and 750 Watts.
I just contacted Amazon and I can get a refund for the PSU :)
Yes, you can buy the Asus mobo.

Glad to hear that you can get a refund for the psu!

I7 8700k still strong cpu for gaming+adding the 3070 should not causing any throtting.
You can save the cpu for now, and when you will get the 3070 just check the results that you get. If the results is good, every thing is ok, if not...you can start thinking about changing the cpu.
Check that your psu is appropriate for the rtx3070.

So its fine if I upgrade the mobo? And btw I don't have a 8700k just a 8700 so I cant overclock it.

Sorry, my mistake.
I7 8700 little bit weaker compared to the k version...but still good for gaming.
Why you want to upgrade your mobo? you cant oc your cpu...you dont need another motherboard.
Stay with i7 8700+3070, and only if there will be problems with fps, start thinking about buying new cpu+mobo.
For now, save the money for future(changeing cpu+mobo).

My current motherboard is from a prebuilt pc made by hp so its extremely barebones and lacking. It doesn't have a single USB 3.0 or 2.0 header and most of the headers of which I need multiple are already in use.

By the way I bought a new PSU and I just tested it, I plugged it into the wall and turned it on with the 24 pin attached to one of those dummy Slot things and the PSUs fan didn't run. Then it sparked and wont turn on again.
Is that refundable? It arrived today from amazon.

Thanks for the help by the way :)
