You are right yanni, for i7 owners it *is* about justifying their purchase.

Everybody has seen me recommending the i7 for professional work...hell I do that in this thread. Sure it's a better cpu at what it was designed to do.

It's not better at gaming though, and it never has been. Right from the start - as my links prove - the i7 has been beset by strange fps issues while running challenging games.

This annoys i7 owners because they truly believe that their cpu is the awesome cpu, unbeatable by anything. Instead of being happy with their top end cpu, they try to make it out to be better than what it really is. In the end, it's a decent gaming cpu, maybe as good as an E8500 or something but no better.

Nah you're kidding me??? Hell all this time I thought it was the i7 actually drawing the images. :pt1cable:

Key phrase 'just about'.

We already know the area that it isn't demonstrably better in, don't we. Hence this thread and the rest perhaps?

Which it is better at. Which has been proved at sites that can properly test. Like Anand. And Bit Tech. And VR Zone. And the Tech Report. And TweakTown. And X-Bit. And Hardware Canucks. And Guru3D...

I don't need to justify what I spend my money on to anyone. Every time I do a build I weigh the cost/benefit. I'm just trying to communicate accurate information for those who have yet to make their decision.

If you know that... then why the hell did you bring up i7 rendering Doom?

Verndewd, you're arguing that a bottom of the barrel AMD socket motherboard against a bottom of the barrel Intel socket motherboard isn't an apt comparison. Taking the cheapest from each seems pretty equal to me. Now go **** ******** *** ******** ****** *******.

Jennyh, how much would it cost me to equal the folding power of one LGA1366 i7 at 3.8GHz? My system ended up costing about $1,200. And your baseless attacks on another forum, that's like complaining about the scenery of a villa in Mexico, when you've read a bad review in a travel magazine.

the primo 188 dollar mobo versus the bargain basement amd and then the amount of ram and the mismatched clock speeds, the review is a joke.

this is correct until you beef up the resolution where the line gets blurry and then AMD perf with the 5870 under oc really scales well making the line all the more blurry but defining a cost to perf ratio that is superior on the AMD side ( arguably that is)

There is no denying the superir performance of i7 , but all things considered in this fiscal environment, choosing the slightly lesser performing AMD and overclocking is a very reasonable trade off.

$188 is less then what I paid for my mobo, and mine is considered low end. You don't know what you're talking about. An EVGA Classified is a "primo" mobo, not that Gigabyte board.

Dual channel is what AMD chips are natively run in, and LGA1366 i7 are natively run triple channel. Unless it's likely to be seen that more then 3GB of RAM is being utilized, there would be ZERO difference between 4GB and 144GB.

In this fiscal environment? What, we're not all poor people who don't have a job outside of being political commentators, some of us can afford nice things. And overclocking? How far did you overclock your HD3850 when you first got it?

Q; a bit of flame baiting? do you speak for the majority?
A; yes and no

Why do people install large amounts of ram?
A; to do more without spreading resources thin
does more ram mean more resources for computation?
A; yes

so your point? do be kind and try not to stutter.

Case in point I am idling at 3.4 gb of ramwith 5 windows open with 8gb installed i can easilly hit 7 gb in various graphics programs and then add a game session,,,,, bam , so saying ram size doesnt matter in a triple versus double channel isnt wholly correct with 3 physical slots to process computation versus 2 just in terms of pin counts where data can be accessed or processed there is a 30% advantage of less constriction(theoretically speaking) My point is that the systems arent matched.

and your financial picture isnt as mainstream as your yapping would imply.

This is the angle these AMD fanatics always take, they PREACH how they save money on their motherboards, they are going to use them forever. They are going to put 6 core cpu's in them.
Then all of a sudden they are arguing that cost equates to quality. The performance is lacking because of a ddr2 m/b, the performance is lacking because its a 80 dollar m/b
blah blah blah
Lets put the 140 Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 AM3 AMD 790X against a GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD3L LGA 1156 , 104.00 .
Then the intel combo can embarrass the AMD's results and be cheaper, lol.

If its not the smoothness, its the money, or the evil corporation. All excuses
for their reasoning on buying their cpu.

Your grandmother still blame you for everything in life? THAT is flame baiting. I asked you some simple questions, and you didn't bother to answer a single one of them.

No one speaks for the majority, the majority is a myth.

I don't think I've ever heard someone say that Intel is a better bargain then AMD, but in a thread about a $400 graphics card, value isn't really something that should be on the table.

Really? Mismatched clock speeds? Mismatched RAM capacity (6GB vs. 4GB)? ... they are inherent to the platform and should not be changed. It's part of the differences between companies. Deal with it.

lol get azzhurt about the xwannabecpu comment did we? :pt1cable:

I dont recall rattling my zipper to illicit any lip from you  the bench isnt a valid comparison deal with it :pt1cable: :pt1cable: :pt1cable:

You made a comment about the place you got banned from, because you threatened to sue on baseless grounds? I don't recall that happening in this thread. Guess I wasn't reading close enough.

whatever delusion it takes for you to conform to that twisted group think. I have witnesses and you have your sedative lie, all things considered I am happy with that, you dont deserve factual information.

That avatar your using, I seem to recall JumpingJack using that one. Whatever delusion it takes for you to confrm to that twisted group think. You don't have a tenth of the reasoning skills he has.

there is a topic here and its not the sand in your crack causing you to the the whiney beawtch you are
