You are right yanni, for i7 owners it *is* about justifying their purchase.
Everybody has seen me recommending the i7 for professional work...hell I do that in this thread. Sure it's a better cpu at what it was designed to do.
It's not better at gaming though, and it never has been. Right from the start - as my links prove - the i7 has been beset by strange fps issues while running challenging games.
This annoys i7 owners because they truly believe that their cpu is the awesome cpu, unbeatable by anything. Instead of being happy with their top end cpu, they try to make it out to be better than what it really is. In the end, it's a decent gaming cpu, maybe as good as an E8500 or something but no better.
